In 2013 HUGS will partner with Spring of Life Ministry Africa (SOLMA) to bring water to an area where clean water is scarce. We will raise funds to install a water catchment system on an existing Community Center in The Village of Hope, which is inside the Kyaka II Refugee settlement area in western Uganda.

The way this is done is to attach fascia boards to the eves of the building then hang gutters from these boards. The gutters will carry any rainwater from the roof to water tanks on the corners of the building. Each tank holds 5000 liters of rainwater. The cost for each set up is about $750 to $800 (depending on the exchange rate). The need is for five tanks.

HUGS does not usually get involved with the actual building since we pay locals to do the work in their way. This is another way HUGS works to support the local population. However, if you would like to be involved with the building, arrangements can be made. While the work is being done, we will work in the school or on the property in some other way. We will also have an opportunity to work in the settlement hospital area.
